“Songstress gives it her all, whatever the stage.”
John Barry, music critic, Poughkeepsie Journal, Poughkeepsie, New York

"A new local artist will soon be a national sensation. I've always seemed to be able to predict a star in the making, and you are the next one!"
Steve, CD Reviewer

Cathy Young has been performing throughout the Hudson Valley as a solo acoustic act since 1997. She has appeared on local TV and radio shows, and has hosted an open mike that drew a regular crowd of amateur and professional musicians, on a weekly basis. For the last three years, Cathy has performed weekly during the warmer months at the Rhinebeck Grille outside on their deck. She has earned a well-deserved following among locals as well as tourists.

While Cathy has a large repertoire of cover tunes, the singer/songwriter is best known for her original songs. She is more likely to be asked to play “something original” than a cover tune when she asks the audience for requests. Each of Cathy’s songs is unique and memorable; everyone who hears her play walks away with a different favorite. Cathy’s music is as diverse as the problems we all face; and no one understands better than Cathy how music can imitate life…and life can imitate music. She has the unique ability to weave a tale of personal experience into a song, and have the listener come out feeling as if she has spoken to them personally. Asked to describe her music, it’s hard for her to pin it down. Her songs float somewhere between acoustic rock, pop, country, and folk, but with a style all her own.

Cathy released her long-awaited debut CD, Days Like These, in 2003. John Barry, music critic for the Poughkeepsie Journal, Poughkeepsie, New York, “Days Like These offers songs that could easily be climbing their way up the charts.” She co-produced the twelve original tracks with the multi-talented Scott Petito, who plays extensively throughout the CD and has worked with James Taylor, Livingston Taylor, Rick Danko, and many others. Her CD, which took more than two years to complete, is a mirror of her own experiences: Love, hardship and hope in the face of adversity, as well as new beginnings.

Currently, Cathy is working on her second CD, which will be completed by the fall of 2006.
